Monday Moves 5

Hey Friends!  Happy Monday!

It’s been a while since I shared a Monday Moves post, maybe because I’ve been a little slack on planning out my weekly exercise *ahem*. But today I’m putting my planning hat back on and trying to be organised – something, it appears, I find near impossible when living on an island where being timely isn’t something that anyone is very concerned with.  It’s not going to stop this girl from trying though!

This week, inspired by the success of Gemma from Dietitian Without Borders with her 30 day squat challenge, the hubby and I have decided to start a 30 day plank challenge. GULP.  Now I don’t know about you, but at the moment my core strength is a little bit on the wobbly side. So I’m not entirely sure it is possible to go from doing a 20 second plank to a 5 min plank in a mere 30 days, but I guess they don’t call it a challenge for nothing!

This is how it looks:

Wish me luck!

The Rest of the week is looking like this:

Monday: Kettle Bell Workout
Tuesday: Yoga Class
Wednesday: Kettle Bell Workout
Thursday: Yoga Class
Friday: 40 min Sworkit
Saturday: 30 min Run
Sunday: Kettle Bell Workout

What are your exercise plans this week?
Do you know any other good Kettle Bell Workouts?

I think its okay you have been enjoying life rather than worrying about blogging :)

Kettlebell workouts are toooouuuugh! This plank challenge is great way to build up. I am up to 6 minutes of front plank with 2 side planks right now, but that has taken a while to get there. I have 80 miles of running to do this week, but that is part of my job, so its okay :)

Haha Tina! I did think of you when I was putting this together! Will see how I go, if I have to break it up to get 5 mins (of good planking) in a day i’ll do it that way. Might TRY and get a few extra runs in this week if I can fir them in during a cooler part of the day….fingers crossed!

I’m doing a plank challenge too lately! A few years ago, I had built up to 2-3 min., but I’ve lost some of that core strength. I’d rather have perfect form for 1 min. vs holding bad form for 5 min. though.

For sure Lauren! Thought it would be a good way to get my discipline in doing them back. I plan to go as far as I can keeping good form and if I have to break it up towards the end, so be it. Will just make sure I do the total time per day :)

    Hola Helen!!

Good to see you’re back on the exercise track – although just walking back and forth to the beach sounds good to me!!

Plank – hmm, not something I can say I’ve ever really done so GOOD LUCK!! A bit of competition with Jim should keep you going. I can’t imagine he’ll let you miss a single day, whatever happens!!

As for me, all is ticking along – still not doing enough cardio time but that’s life getting in the way. It’s so easy to be distracted by roof terrace drinking when the sun is shining :-) On the plus side, I do run a half marathon at least once a week and I’ve found an awesome place for open water swimming. I’ll get on with that just as soon as it heats up a bit more…And I’ve finally made it outside on my bike and realised how much I have underestimated that part of the race…Extra extra extra padded shorts are a must!!

Good luck with the plank challenge and get surfing!! xx

I did the 30 day plank challenge in November … It was brilliant and I still regularly plank in the morning waiting on the bathroom hehe. I managed a little over 6 minutes on the last day challenge at the end!! X
